LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Nation needs to move further to the right

After reading the piece by Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne published in Monday’s Las Vegas Sun, titled “For most Americans, Republican Party is way too extreme,” I have to disagree. Apparently he isn’t understanding the polls taken of the Republicans and their dissatisfaction with the party.

Yes, we are unhappy, but not for the reasons he alludes to. Quite the contrary. All we want is to go back to what our Constitution dictates: Less government, less taxes, more freedom. To me, that means we need to go further to the right. The “extreme” he refers to is the extreme left. To us Republicans, former President George W. Bush was not a good example of our party because he went to the middle. Sen. John McCain really wasn’t the best GOP candidate, but he was better than Barack Obama. Anyone would have been better, even Hillary Clinton.

We are seeing Obama’s popularity waning after only six months, even among his supporters. Why? He is doing exactly what he said he would and now many of you who voted for him are worried.

It’s going to be a long four-year term. Irreversible damage has been done. Hopefully, the election in 2010 will help bring some control over King Obama.
