Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid minced no words Thursday about the GOP’s tactics to bring down the president’s agenda. Here’s how he was quoted in Politico: “I just think, as I’ve said before, it’s not often that you try to blow yourself up, but that’s obviously what they’re trying to do with all this vexatious stuff they’re doing with these meetings, the birthers. It’s a party being run by a talk-show host.” Now which talk show host could Reid have had in mind, dittoheads? But I think the majority leader’s broadside raises a broader question, one that all fair-minded voters need to consider: If it’s the right talk-show host, maybe it would be the best thing for democracy if we — er, they — ran the parties?
