I apologize to Mayor Oscar Goodman and others who have embraced the mob museum. I foolishly thought the endeavor was another Goodman vanity project and intended to glorify the former mob lawyer’s clients. But when I saw he and ex-Sen. Richard Bryan dressed as mobsters at a kickoff event, I realized how wrong I had been. When I saw them gushing about a wall where a massacre occurred, I saw the error of my ways. And this Goodman quote about the mob in the Sun wrapping paper: “They knew your name. They treated you like a king. I hope that Las Vegas returns to that someday. I think that we’ve lost that as we’ve become more corporate. The mob was the one that set the bar.” Truly, I am sorry for my cynicism.
