LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

What to do about a disgraced employee?

I have an employee problem that I am hoping your staff and readers can help with. I have an experienced employee who just revealed that he has engaged in behavior detrimental in many ways to my company.

He told us what he had done, but would answer no questions about it and has refused to speak with me, or anyone in the company, about the details of his transgressions. They are incredibly serious, have hurt the reputation of the company, and have caused many people to lose faith in us. He said he made a bad decision, but in fact he has been making very bad decisions continuously, every day, for almost a year.

The irony is that when others in the company have had similar problems, this employee demanded that they resign immediately. He was great at criticizing, but now that the problem is his, he refuses to take the high road. What should I do?

The employee is John Ensign. As a public servant, he works for me and all the residents of Nevada. He made many bad decisions every day for more than nine months, and continues to stonewall us, the people who pay his salary.

He is a laughingstock and cannot possibly be an asset to Nevada. Let’s stop this nonsense and demand Ensign resign, as he has told others to do who engaged in less egregious behavior.

A recall election, anyone?
