Nellis Air Force Base is runner-up in the competition for best installation worldwide in the Air Force.
The base lost out to Hurlburt Field in Florida for the Commander In Chief’s 2009 Installation Excellence Award.
Nellis was named one of the two finalists for the awards early this year, and judges visited both bases to evaluate numerous criteria, such as communication across the ranks, energy conservation, base productivity, environmental safety and overall quality of life.
For earning the top ranking, Hurlburt receives a $1 million check for quality-of-life upgrades.
