Ask Vegas Vic: What happened to Glendale?

Vegas Vic, what happened to the small town of Glendale that was located just off Interstate 15? — Mark Wrigley
Mark is being generous. Calling Glendale a small town is like calling Vegas Vic a tall cowboy. (Forty-eight feet, for those of you unfamiliar with this tall drink of neon.)
At last count maybe a dozen souls make their homes in Glendale — a wide spot off the interstate 50 miles north of Las Vegas featuring a motel, cafe/convenience store and gas station.
In April, a fire leveled the cafe/convenience store. With it went one compelling reason for I-15 travelers to stop there, says Vernon Robison, general managing editor of the weekly Moapa Valley Progress.
“The restrooms were in that building, so there’s no place to go to the bathroom” in Glendale, Robison tells Vegas Vic.
As far as Clark County officials are concerned, Glendale is still on the map, an unincorporated town that falls under the jurisdiction of the Moapa Town Board.
