Midler to campaign for Obama tonight
Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 | 4:25 p.m.
Bette Midler will stump for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama during a rally at 6 tonight at Krave, Las Vegas’ premier gay nightclub.
Midler performs at Caesars Palace in “The Showgirl Must Go On” Tuesdays through Sundays. The show is dark Mondays.
The Divine Miss M is using the dark day to enlighten voters about Obama.
Organizers say the event is aimed at “the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.” Presumably, crossover Republicans are also welcome.
Krave is part of an entertainment complex, which also includes a lounge and the Harmon Theatre, located on Harmon Avenue east of South Las Vegas
Boulevard ‹ adjacent to Planet Hollywood and the Miracle Mile Shops.
Midler will host the “Krave for Change” event. Other celebrities and entertainers are expected to turn out for the political rally.
Congresswoman Shelley Berkley is among the politicians expected to attend. Entertainment will be provided by Deejays Tina T, Lisa Pittman, Miss Funk and Girl 6.
