Just-released grand jury transcripts provide an inside look into the attorney general's criminal theft investigation of William "Bob" Gilbert, the College of Southern Nevada's associate vice president of management facilities.
The 49-year-old Gilbert was indicted by a county grand jury Sept. 26 on charges of stealing the services of college employees under his supervision, along with building materials and equipment, during construction of his sprawling Mount Charleston home.
Three college employees who worked under Gilbert — construction manager Thad Skinner, facility manager Matthew Goins and construction inspector George Casal — also were charged in the scheme.
In his opening remarks to the grand jury on Sept. 18, Chief Deputy Attorney General Conrad Hafen said investigators also were focusing on the conduct of the owners of a construction company that did work for the college. The owners have not been charged, but the investigation is continuing.
Gilbert and the other three college employees all have pleaded not guilty and are facing a March 23 trial.
