Sun editorial:
A worthy investigation
Secretary of state is right to pursue voter registration fraud allegations against ACORN
Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008 | 2:07 a.m.
Shortly before the 2004 general election, Nevada Democrats accused Voters Outreach of America, an organization funded by Republicans, of committing voter registration fraud by trying to stop Democrats from registering, but the group escaped punishment. The state Investigations Division, in a report to the secretary of state’s office, found forged registration documents with fictitious names and addresses during the same election but no evidence of organized fraud.
With next month’s election rapidly approaching and with Nevada once again considered a battleground state, the state is dealing with fresh allegations of voter registration fraud. This time fingers are being pointed at the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, an anti-poverty group whose registration operations have been criticized by Republicans.
An affidavit for a search warrant of the group’s Sahara Avenue office that was enforced Tuesday said there was reason to believe ACORN employees had submitted falsified registration forms to the Clark County registrar of voters.
ACORN’s interim chief organizer, Bertha Lewis, said the group immediately dismisses employees who are suspected of fraud and it had cooperated with county and state authorities, but called the office raid “a stunt that serves no useful purpose.” We disagree. The secretary of state’s office should be commended for launching the investigation.
Any allegation of voter registration fraud where evidence is available is worthy of a state investigation. We are also troubled in this particular case that ACORN’s registration effort allegedly involved inmates of the state’s Casa Grande transitional housing center in Las Vegas for convicted felons who are about to be released into the community.
Voters need to be assured that elections are clean and that everyone who goes to the polls is eligible to do so.

I wonder how much of the Democrats' increase in voter registration is bogus.
I wonder if that will screw up their strategy.
Also, many polls are weighted by voter registration or party identifications. I wonder if these bogus registrations have an effect on polling.
The polls are all over the place. Some give Obama a 12 point lead and others are within the margin of error.
It is a crazy year.
New young voters may throw things off.
The "Bradley" effect where whites are afraid to say that they are not voting for a black may throw things off.
I think Obama will win but I think it will be closer than most people think.
We can't wait for an investigation to find out what Democrats have done. The election is just a few days away.
Obama needs to lead an accounting for all the Congressional funds that have been siphoned through ACORN's various community organization groups.
What happened to transparency and traceability and the anti-lobbyist outcry.
It is amazing that Republicans continue to allow federal funding of the Democratic run Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). ACORN is an umbrella organization for contract groups like Project Vote. Project Vote's mission includes lobbying to liberalize voting laws and voter registration.
In 1992, Obama ran the voter project in Southside Chicago. ACORN's systematic approach to fraudulent in getting democratic voter registrations is nothing new, but why is Congress paying for it. We need to check if the people Obama registered in 1992 were real.
In 1995 Obama was an ACORN civil rights lawyer fighting for liberalize voting laws.
Because of liberalize voting laws, ACORN in Ohio is running a sweep of homeless locations and getting them in for same day registration AND voting, and Congress is paying for it.
Because of liberalize voting laws, ACORN in Nevada is getting criminal inmates to canvas locations to get low-income voters registered.
In the off election years these ACORN guys contract others in their umbrella groups to run around getting no down sub-prime loans for "poor" people with no income evidence.
This is the Democrat definition of CHANGE/REFORM.
Without doubt this cadre of community organizer storm-troopers are milking the system and we are paying for it.
ACORN Lobbyist, Lawyer, Trainer Barack Obama will reward the storm troopers from ACORN and Union with funding support after he is elected and the hole will get deeper.
Now we know the difference between a community organizer and a mayor/governor.
CNN ran this short item on headline news last night. Interesting.
The ONE

What you mean a mayor/governor is more honest and ethical? Like how a certain mayor in Alaska made RAPE VICTIMS PAY for their police rape kits? The Alaskan legislature was so aghast at the practice that they outlawed it. Why did she make women who'd been raped pay the police to collect evidence of a felony? Was it the budget, or was it that rape kits include emergency contraceptives? Because the good governor also believes that women should be forced to carry RAPE/INCEST babies to term...even though little Bristol was allowed to make the DECISION about her baby. hmmm, what's another word for decision, I think it rhymes with voice...oh yeah CHOICE. A little two-faced! Your family can't have that choice, but mine can.
Obama is honest and ethical?
Obama is the only state senator to vote against a law that would have given human legal rights to babies borned from botched abortions.
Obama had as a core fundraiser for years who is the biggest crook in south Chicago and that crook also helped him buy a house.
Obama's spiritual mentor for over 20 years has said "God Dam America" and says that the USA give AIDS and drugs to blacks.
Obama has no problem having strong relationships with a domestic terrorist who wish he bombed more police stations.
Obama is number two on the list of getting cash from the crooked Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac organizations. Obama has had ex-CEO from Fannie Mae give his campaing advice and search for a VP. Those ex-CEO's cooked the books so that they could get millions in bonuses. Now we taxpayers are having to give billions to bailout those companies.
Comparison between a Mayor/govenor and a community organizer is not one of who is "more" honest and ethical.
This is a question of Obama providing, before the election, accountability, transparency, traceability, of the funds that passed through the ACORN and the Woods Fund.
As the anti-lobbyist, Obama need to provide evidence that he did not lobbying for funds for ACORN in the bailout package.
Of course, everybody knows that Barney Frank's significant other is in top management at Fannie Mae and Frank constantly voted on and push for laws that would help his buddy out.
Excellent leadership in DC!!!!!!!
If the Democrats had let the 2005 legislation come to a vote, the huge growth in the subprime and Alt-A loan portfolios of Fannie and Freddie could not have occurred, and the scale of the financial meltdown would have been substantially less. The same politicians who today decry the lack of intervention to stop excess risk taking in 2005-2006 were the ones who blocked the only legislative effort that could have stopped it.
ACORN agenda on sub-prime?
It was a crazy situation no doubt, i remember watching the reit's on the stock market going crazy in 03 and 04, i new they would not last so i never bought any, even though barney and obamas intention was for minorities to get into a loan on a home, once fannie and freddie started buying, small banks were dumping paper left and right, (reit's) were very profitable.
Then it expanded into fraud activity and beyond it was like exuberance had just taken over, lots of people on full tilt boogie buying homes like they were nothing. It is easy to see how americans cannot understand where the problem started, even though it was fueled all over it was the policy of fannie and freddie that incubated it and really kept the nursery going. what a shame that this all happened the way that it did, you must admit there is no way anyone new the magnitude.
