The Desert Vista Community Center in Sun City Summerlin will be filled with a variety of arts and crafts for the Fall Arts & Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 4, and Carol Przybycien will be right in the middle of it.
The president of a Sun City Summerlin club known as Crafty Critters will be surrounded by Halloween witches, goofy hats, spider decorations and stuffed cows the size of toddlers — all of which were created by the 55 members of the club.
Crafty Critters will also have a table with knitted and crocheted items for sale, which is always quite popular, Przybycien said.
"It's always interesting to us that with all the big stores and places where people can go shopping, so many people want to buy a handmade item," she said. "There's something special and unique about it."
Desert Vista Community Center is at 10360 Sun City Blvd., just north of the intersection between Lake Mead Boulevard and Anasazi Drive.
The public is invited to view and purchase items for sale, but all of the vendors will be residents of Sun City Summerlin.
More than 1,000 visitors are expected to attend, Przybycien said.
"A lot of people from outside Sun City Summerlin like to come to this event," she said. "Younger people like to come in and buy the handmade items."
The Fall Arts & Crafts Fair will feature a variety of creations from more than 10 arts and crafts clubs in Sun City Summerlin, including paintings, woodcarvings, jewelry, quilts and ceramics.
Many of the crafts will be themed for Halloween, Thanksgiving and the year-end holidays such as Christmas.
"I think people like to look at holiday items and they start thinking about their Christmas shopping," Przybycien said.
