Assemblywoman Valerie Weber has a hard time finding friends.

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 | 2 a.m.

These days, I’d guess Assemblywoman Valerie Weber has a hard time finding friends. I’d wager some old pals who loved her in the Legislature aren’t so friendly anymore. Why? Because she is leaving the cozy confines of Carson City to try to find a more powerful home on the Clark County Commission and she is running against the candidate anointed by the power structure, Las Vegas Councilman Larry Brown. Brown has raised a fortune and seems unbeatable. But Weber has found at least two benefactors North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandon and the state Republican Party. The party is promoting and Montandon is hosting a fundraiser for her next week. Per the invite: “All donations will be graciously accepted.” I bet.
