The last day of July is shaping up to be much like many other days this month. In a word: hot.

The Las Vegas Valley should sizzle to 107 degrees this afternoon. The National Weather Service said monsoon moisture could make its way to the region early next week, although no rain is expected until Tuesday.

In the meantime, it's going to be dry with above-average warmth, forecasters said. The high tomorrow should top out near 110 degrees in Las Vegas.

The record high on today's date is 115, set back in 1978. Weather service records indicate the average high on today's date is 104 degrees.

The city officially will end July with 0.08 inches of rain. Although parts of Clark County received heavy downpours earlier this month, McCarran International Airport -- the valley's official reporting station -- stayed mostly dry.
