Letter to the editor:

GOP senators want to get rid of UAW

Despite what they say, Republicans in the Senate who are blocking bailout loans for the Big Three are doing it to break up the United Auto Workers. Their theory is that if any of the Big Three goes into bankruptcy, it may be taken over by a foreign automaker that would eliminate the union. It would also be payback for the UAW’s support of Barack Obama.

They don’t care about the millions of American workers and their families across the country whose lives would be seriously affected. Note that Sen. John Ensign is one of the leaders of their pack. This is class warfare, an attempt to deny workers their rights, while the executives live the good life.

Under Republican control during the past eight years, we have seen jobs move overseas, massive layoffs, and now this union-busting effort. American workers who think the Republican Party cares for them are sadly mistaken.
