Las Vegas-based Army Guard soldiers will be deploying to Iraq and Kuwait in the spring, the Nevada National Guard said today.

About 160 soldiers will deploy with the unit to transport personnel, equipment and supplies throughout the war zone.

The last time the 1864th Transportation Co. deployed to Iraq, it operated a convoy to move supplies in Iraq.

The soldiers spent a year in Kuwait and Iraq, returning in October 2005.

One soldier, 21-year-old Spec. Anthony Cometa, died in a humvee rollover in June 2005 in Kuwait.
