Growth-related jobs nose-dive

Enlargeable graphic

Job losses began to mount in many Nevada business sectors two years ago. Residential construction led the way, with a loss of 10,000 for specialty contractors and 2,300 for homebuilders.

Resorts in Southern Nevada averaged nearly 3,300 fewer positions in 2007, a 2 percent decline from 2006, and businesses such as carwashes and collection agencies continued to thrive and grow.

Below is a sampling of major industries and businesses in Clark County with job losses or gains greater than 10 percent from 2006 to 2007.
