The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has finished its physical inspections of CityCenter, a Nevada OSHA spokesperson said last week.

But instead of packing up right away, federal inspectors expanded their role in Strip construction site inspections.

In June, state workplace regulators announced they had asked the federal government to take the unusual step of sending in help for a comprehensive inspection of the CityCenter construction site.

The understaffed agency was apparently overwhelmed by the task of inspecting safety at enormous Strip construction sites where 12 workers have died in 19 months.

Last week, OSHA spokeswoman Elisabeth Shurtleff said that during the inspections of CityCenter, Nevada OSHA asked the inspectors to help the agency to do comprehensive inspections of Cosmopolitan and Planet Hollywood as well.

The agency has not finished their reports so no word yet on what safety problems were identified during the inspections.
