Letter: Too few are aware of what Bush is up to
Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 | 6:45 a.m.
Wake up, America! The following passage comes from a recent commentary from Bob Herbert that appeared in the Las Vegas Sun: "Meanwhile the president and his priceless band of can't-get-it-right-wingers are busy vetoing health insurance for children, dreaming up secret torture protocols, funneling lucrative federal contracts to friends and cronies, and fulfilling their paramount mission - making the very rich richer."
Apparently the man on the street is not aware of what is going on. When I broached the subject of the State Children's Health Insurance Program to another person, he was shocked to hear of the president's veto concerning health care of children. Apparently current events are not on the minds of our citizens, although they profess the dislike of the president and his policies.
If there are any politicians who will not help override the president's veto concerning the children's health insurance program, which is vital for many families, their names should be widely published for all to know. American children are defenseless; it is a disgrace that endangers our future generations while billions are spent in Iraq and Afghanistan.
