Letter: God has no business being on our currency

Charles C. Haynes' Oct. 3 commentary, " 'In God We Trust' won't make U.S. religious," was informative and rational. As a native-born, U.S.-loving American disbeliever, I deeply resent being forced to accept the words "In God We Trust" on our coins and bills and, certainly, as the official national motto.
More and more atheists, Wiccans, pagans, etc. (good people, all) are "coming out of the closet" and are proof that a belief in the Judeo-Christian "God," while possibly true for the majority, is definitely not universal in the United States.
Mr. Haynes' final paragraph was right on! Let's go back to our original well-founded motto: E Pluribus Unum. It's long past time to revert to our basic secularism. Leave deities in the houses of worship where they belong.
