Tiger on a dirt bike

He wore an eye-catching pink and white uniform dotted with rhinestones - the perfect outfit for a Las Vegas celebration with 39,000 of his closest friends.

But Supercross champion James Stewart should have opted for a simple red jersey and black pants, the outfit favored by Tiger Woods on those Sundays when he is stalking yet another PGA Tour victory.

Stewart, who often is compared to Woods, saved his best impression of the world's best golfer for last in wrapping up a brilliant Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series season Saturday night at Sam Boyd Stadium.

In the Supercross season finale, Stewart cemented his position as the sport's top active rider with a dominating performance that would have made Woods envious.

Having clinched the series championship a week earlier, Stewart raced to a staggering 13-second lead midway through the 20-lap main event and cruised to a 16-second win over Chad Reed. It was Stewart's 13th victory in 16 races this season and the 24th of his career.

And, just as Woods has done, he set his sights on his sport's record books. Stewart, 21, said he looks forward to breaking records and didn't rule out one day challenging Jeremy McGrath's career mark of 72 Supercross victories.

"I think any records are possible," Stewart said.

Those who were on hand to witness his performance Saturday night probably wouldn't bet against him.
