Letter: Goodman nothing but an attention hound
Saturday, March 10, 2007 | 7:13 a.m.
I want to thank the Las Vegas Sun for printing Jon Ralston's March 2 column about the real Oscar Goodman. Having come up here to Las Vegas quite a few times before I moved here from California 2 1/2 years ago, and reading about this person that Las Vegas calls its mayor, Mr. Ralston has really done a masterful job of revealing who the true Oscar Goodman is.
Frankly speaking, his antics over a matter of years have been impossible to read about without making me feel nothing but contempt and disgust, and hopefully for any thinking Las Vegas citizen as well. Considering Mr. Goodman's background as the mouthpiece for the mob for years, it is amazing to me that the citizens of Las Vegas would put him into office in the first place, mush less vote him into office a second time!
His shtick of his personal appearances with his showgirls and the drink in his hand is enough to make me want to throw up.
Nor can I forget his lovely talk to fourth graders about his choice about taking liquor above all else to a desert island and the rest of his verbal garbage and actions. He tries to keep himself in the public's eye, trying to grab any opportunity for publicity and photo op he can find. I am only surprised that he has not tried to get publicity by an appearance at a grand opening of a hot dog stand.
