The Nevada university system police chiefs are proposing to the Board of Regents that college faculty be permitted to be trained as police officers and be allowed to carry concealed weapons on the campuses. The 21-week training program would be paid for from already insufficient college funds.
This is yet another example of the ridiculous notion that the solution to gun violence is more guns. As a college instructor in nursing, I consider myself an educator and a healer, not a law enforcement officer. I would absolutely never participate in such a program and I am sure that most of my colleagues would agree with me.
