LUCKY IN LOVE
Sunday, July 8, 2007 | 7:10 a.m.
Those among us with hardened hearts may scoff at the 3,000 or so couples who married Saturday in Las Vegas, hoping their pledges of love will benefit from whatever good luck springs from tying the knot on 7-7-07. Luck may have its place but is no foundation for marriage. Still, let's celebrate the romance that flowed up and down the Strip - the tears of joy and the laughter of giddiness. We don't know how many gamblers were any luckier than they would have been any other day of the week. We don't know whether any bowlers rolled a perfect game or whether any golfers lofted a perfect iron off the tee for a hole-in-one. But we know that, at least on this day, thousands of couples pledged their love in Las Vegas. And that would make it a good day.
