FLASHPOINT for Jan 13, 2007

There was a time when no Nevada Democrat would be caught dead being a member of the NCC. Of course in Nevada political parlance, NCC stands for Nevada Concerned Citizens, which is basically a bunch of conservatives who don't have much use for Democrats. But a new NCC is forming today and only Democrats are welcome. It's the Nevada Caucus Commission, which is being formed to help lay the groundwork and, of course, get publicity for the Jan. 19, 2008, state presidential caucus. The rainbow of folks will be arrayed today and introduced by Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Shelley Berkley. They will exude excitement, enthusiasm and energy - and maybe other E words, too. Let's hope the caucus can match the hype.
