Letter: Drivers, be on the lookout for riders
Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 | 7:05 a.m.
I would like to ask Berkely Lent - regarding his Feb. 22 letter, "Let nature take care of helmetless bikers" - what part of being run over is natural selection? The overwhelming majority of motorcycle fatalities, helmeted or not, are the fault of a motorist not yielding the right of way to the motorcyclist.
Until motorists are prosecuted the same for killing a rider as another motorist, the problem will not change. I'm just as tired of people who don't ride thinking they know something on the subject as I am of hearing, "I didn't see him." Shut up and look!
