Letter: All-Star Game wasn’t right for Las Vegas
Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 | 7:05 a.m.
I've never written a letter to newspaper before, however after experiencing what happened in Las Vegas this past weekend, I feel a need to do so after our city felt a need to bring this NBA All-Star Game here.
Did anyone know this event would bring the excessive violence, crime, gangs, graffiti, prostitution and congestion that would cause nothing but aggravation to the locals, Strip employees, law enforcement and higher-caliber tourists to our city? And by not having the game lined at the casinos (I'm a ticket writer at a sports book), the books and employees saw wagers tank because of a severe decrease in business. Why would anyone support such an event that degraded our city?
