Letter: More bureaucracy is the last thing we need
Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 | 7:22 a.m.
According to a recent editorial in the Las Vegas Sun, President Bush has issued an executive order that requires every federal agency to have a regulatory policy office that is to be run by a political appointee.
The "I'm the decider" president has done it again, this time promulgating an infamous order enlarging the presently bloated bureaucracy in Washington with more offices, each headed by an appointed "political commissar," who the president will no doubt believe will be doing a heck of a job in weakening, changing, delaying, preventing or otherwise interfering in various regulations proposed by experts, and pleasing special interests.
The last thing this country needs are these "political commissars" to have control of our health, safety, environment, civil rights and privacy. The Oversight and Government Reform Committee in the House should take immediate vigorous action to delay this plan for full congressional hearings. This nation has survived since its inception without such political meddling in our vital regulatory process affecting our daily lives.
