Letter: Ignore the media, vote for integrity
Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 | 6:54 a.m.
All citizens, especially voters, should ask themselves: What is happening to the United States of America?
One might wonder how many polls and numbers the media spoke of when Washington, Lincoln or the Roosevelts campaigned . Were they admired by voters for how long they ran for election, or how much money their families had, or how many millions they collected from special-interest groups for their campaign, to be "paid back" later?
Or did the people actually choose the one that they could respect and stand behind as a nation? One whose integrity was beyond reproach, and there was no doubt that their president and his political organization would have nothing but the best interest of America's future behind every decision made? One who would be admired, trusted and respected by nearly all nations as a true leader?
Are today's Americans voting based on those same core values, or are we swayed by the nonstop brainwashing by the media?
Today, candidates depend on the media telling us whom to vote for, and we blindly do so, as if we were a flock of sheep.
Wouldn't it be great for our descendants if we had the gumption to change all that in 2008? Nothing can be done about our past miscues . But, make no mistake, we are responsible for what happens to our country tomorrow.
