Letter: Nonsmokers have cost people jobs
Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 | 7 a.m.
This is in response to the Aug. 14 letter by Steven Watkins, headlined, "Some smokers just don't get it."
In my view, it is the nonsmokers who do not get it.
I'd like to thank voters like Mr. Watkins for putting a number of people out of a job. Thanks to them, I can no longer go to my favorite local pub to watch my favorite NFL team and have a bite to eat.
My favorite pub has had to let go of cooks, bus people, waitresses and dishwashers. And don't forget about the losses by the delivery drivers and food suppliers.
Thanks to voters like Mr. Watkins, the profits to my friends at that local pub are now down. Less taxes are now being paid. Thanks again.
