Letter: Broder’s bashing of Reid is unwarranted
Sunday, April 29, 2007 | 7:26 a.m.
Recently David Broder wrote a column comparing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Gonzales received two negative paragraphs while the rest of the column bashed Reid.
Gonzales has been widely criticized by Democrats and Republicans for bungling the firing of eight U.S. attorneys. Reid is merely stating the reality the administration would have us ignore. Public opinion in the United States and Iraq is negative about the U.S. military occupation of that country.
The present stalemate is deteriorating our military and our treasury. Now, there are no easy options to extricate us out of this mess, but a diplomatic solution is the most feasible. Broder recently wrote that Bush is poised for a comeback. Does this bespeak good judgment? Broder appears to be poised for a downfall. The Las Vegas Sun should drop his column.
