Letter: Political spending in need of consent

I read with interest the Supreme Court's decision to hear the case involving the utilization of union dues for political purposes without the consent of specific members. I agree that the use of such compulsory dues without prior approval strikes at the heart of the Bill of Rights.

That said, the ancillary issue also has compelling merit. Namely, public entities/corporations should also be required to obtain the specific approval of individual stockholders prior to the expenditure of monies for political purposes (including lobbying).

What's good for the goose is good for the gander!
