Letter: Clarifying ambiguous terms makes sense

Regarding Gabriel L. Grasso's Sept. 22 letter, "Our president is a bit unclear on dignity":

The issue isn't whether the president understands the definition of human dignity. The issue is what definition are partisan politicians going to give those words on any given day.

Would anyone participate in a business deal if told that because everyone understands that business dealings should be above board and honest, there is no reason to have a contract? Of course he wouldn't.

We constantly hear about how our troops and interrogators are "torturing" people. Let's define what that means right now so everyone understands what we are talking about. Why would anyone, with any common sense, object to the president asking Congress to define lawful and unlawful interrogation techniques?
