Letter: It’s time to start considering hypotheticals

Every press conference President Bush hosts, he is asked a few hypothetical questions, and his standard reply is, "I don't answer hypotheticals." Therein lies the problem.

Not only does he not answer hypotheticals, neither he nor his administration seem to consider them. It would have been beneficial if some hypotheticals such as the following would have been considered: What do we do if we are not received as conquering heroes following our invasion of Iraq? What do we do if Iraq is consumed with insurgency groups? What do we do if a civil war breaks out? What do we do if we are considered occupiers and are no longer welcome? What do we do if the Iraqis cannot disarm the militias? What do we do, if after nearly four years, we appear to be losing ground in the war?

Since Bush does not consider hypotheticals and only listens to his inner staff and not fresh voices from the outside, I guess we have to wait for the answers when they actually occur. Sadly, up to now, the answers have not been positive.
