FLASHPOINT for Nov 17, 2006

Now this isn't even a close call. But I will ask the question anyhow: Who is right on Internet gambling - Senate Majority Leader-elect Harry Reid or a guy with a really powerful position, MGM Mirage boss Terry Lanni? Lanni said the ban is "ridiculous" and invoked the failure of Prohibition to make his case. He said the lame duck session may provide opportunities but others look ahead to the reign of the Democrats. Reid, though, continues to oppose Internet gambling, telling the Associated Press that he has "extreme doubts" it can be controlled. Lanni, though, hinted to the wire service reporter that Reid might help the industry's cause. For all those who miss online poker, let's hope Terry is right about Harry.
