Letter: Let’s move beyond all the attack ads
Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006 | 7:08 a.m.
In this midterm election cycle we have been inundated with so many attack ads from both sides, it is difficult to discern the difference from one candidate to another. Some of the most egregious are the ones admonishing voters that "liberals" are Godless, "with San Francisco values," and that "liberals will raise taxes" and "cut and run in Iraq."
Why is "liberal" such a bad word?
I am a liberal and am proud of it. I want a world in which a person is respected for who she or he is. I want a world where peace is the norm, not the exception.
I don't want a government beholden to corporate puppet masters or an extreme religious ideology. I ask everyone in Las Vegas and Nevada to think seriously where this great country of ours is headed.
