GOP’s Hardy ends long shot lieutenant governor candidacy for lieutenant governor

CARSON CITY - Eldon B. Hardy of Las Vegas, citing health reasons, has ended his long shot candidacy for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor.

Hardy filed for the office May 9 but withdrew on Friday, according to records in the secretary of state's office.

Hardy, 70, said he had pinched nerves in his shoulder and arms.

"I didn't feel I could go forward," he said.

Hardy was an ombudsman for five years in the state Business and Industry Department before leaving in April.

Still in the race for the GOP nomination are former Lt. Gov. Lonnie Hammargren, George Kao of Reno, state Treasurer Brian Krolicki, former Las Vegas Councilwoman Janet Moncrief and Barbara L. Woollen of Las Vegas.
