Performers hope to make a good impression

The sixth annual Celebrity Impersonators Convention will be held May 28-30 at the Imperial Palace.
New to the convention this year will be Natalie Reid, impersonator of Paris Hilton, and Tiffany Cole, impersonator of Angelina Jolie.
About 100 tribute artists will attend the convention, including impersonators of Elizabeth Taylor, Jay Leno, film character Austin Powers and Kramer, the character from "Seinfeld."
There also will be impersonators of Barbra Streisand, Bing Crosby, President Bush, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Anna Nicole Smith.

Opera luncheon
The Nevada Opera Theatre Guild will host its annual "International Friendship Luncheon" beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Turnberry Place Stirling Club. It will be followed by a live auction.
Elaine Fish, president of John Fish Jewelers, and Kadell and Leezie Kremer will be honored at the event for being patrons of the Nevada Opera Theatre for the past 20 years.
Featured soloists will be Demetra George, two-time Grammy nominee who has performed for the "Opera Festival" at MonteLago Village and performed the lead in "La Traviata" at Paris Las Vegas in 2002; Steve Plummer, who performed the role of Lt. Pinkerton in the Nevada Opera Theatre's 2004 production of "Madame Butterfly"; and Morton Hyson, who was cast in the role of the Sacristan in "Tosca" at UNLV's Artemus Ham Hall in January.

'Rockapella'
"Rockapella" (not to be confused with "Dragapella" at the Hilton) will be the featured entertainment at 8 p.m. May 20 for the UNLV Performing Arts Center's 30th Anniversary Season Finale.

'Young Guns of Comedy' II
"The Young Guns of Comedy" will return to the Aladdin's Theatre for Performing Arts for an 8 p.m. show on May 28.
Performers include D.L. Hughley and Don "D.C" Curry. Tickets are $40.50 to $75.50.
Beach Boy
Tickets are on sale for a July 1 performance by Beach Boy Brian Wilson and country singer Trisha Yearwood at the Cannery. The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $49.99 to $74.99. For information call 617-5585.
New dates for 'Cats'
The performance dates of the musical "Cats" at the Aladdin Theatre for Performing Arts have been changed. Originally scheduled for June, Andrew Lloyd Webber's production will run July 27 through July 30.
This marks the 25th year of "Cats," which premiered May 11, 1981, at the New London Theatre in London.
