Letter: Simple steps to solve illegal immigration
Friday, May 5, 2006 | 7:39 a.m.
Our government can solve the illegal immigrant problem by doing three simple things:
1. Secure our border with Mexico.
2. Pass legislation requiring the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service to cooperate with law enforcement by supplying bogus Social Security numbers that are being used by illegal immigrants.
3. Fine the employers. This will allow all the businesses that hire them to be targeted with large fines of, say, $20,000 per infraction. This would stop the employment of these people so they would return to wherever they came from.
However, this would require our government to do something, which all of our elected officials don't seem capable of doing. I would suggest we vote out all elected officials, both Republican and Democrat, to send a message we want our country back.
Living in Las Vegas highlights the problem of illegals because we see so many. I wonder when it will occur to the illegal immigrant leaders that our big businesses (the ones causing the employment problem) got them all to work during the day of the boycott so they would not lose any money (the businesses, of course). The only ones that lost money were the Mexican-owned small businesses that closed for the day.
Keep up the good work organizers, you have now showed all legal residents of America we have a very, very large illegal immigrant problem.
