Letter: Stop unnecessary criticism of Bush
Thursday, June 8, 2006 | 7:32 a.m.
Sen. Harry Reid and his Democratic cohorts continue to sow "gloom and doom" in their attempts to discredit anything that President Bush does.
Sen. Reid says that President Bush's moves to protect marriage between a man and a woman are wrong! Reid, as well as the majority of his constituents, are against gay and lesbian marriage. Even Sen. Reid's own church is against gay/lesbian marriage. Why is Sen. Reid so intractable, so very wrongheaded? Vote in civil unions and leave marriage alone.
"Gloom and doom" politics is not what the American public wants. They do not want to hear the constant lies about Iraq. They want to hear how to gain victory there and bring our military home. They want to hear a positive solution to the gasoline problem. As long as we need gasoline and other fossil fuels, why obstruct drilling offshore? Sure, we need to get alternative fuels, but until we do, let's become independent from foreign oil.
Also, quit harping on Hurricane Katrina. President Bush did not cause that storm. President Bush did not fail to evacuate New Orleans. Get a grip!
America needs to pull together as one team. No matter what your politics are, pull together as one team. Stop carping needlessly about imagined wrongs and think positively about tomorrow. If your guys/gals get in office, I won't cry. I think your tears are wasted as these senators prove themselves to be pawns of others instead of elected leaders who were, by the way, elected to lead, not follow!
