FLASHPOINT for Jun 06, 2006

Do you feel the gaming industry's pain? The Nevada Resort Association had tried to block an anti-smoking petition in court, saying it shouldn't apply to hotel and motel rooms. But Monday a Carson City judge said you can't smoke 'em if you got 'em in casinos, which will rev up the NRA to kill the measure. The interesting conundrum for proponents is that they actually might want to appeal the ruling because once the gamers get engaged, the initiative is in trouble. I can see where the people would come down once the casinos start playing the "Oh, this will cost us so much revenue" game. Some voter might suggest the boys might want to spend a billion or two less in Macau.
