Letter: Bush insults Truman with bad comparison

It is amazing that President Bush continues to make historical references to people with whom he absolutely has no linkage, despite how hard he tries to suggest that one exists.

His latest gaffe is in suggesting that he and Harry Truman - the greatest president of the 20th century who made tougher decisions than anyone in U.S. history with the possible exception of Lincoln - faced some of the same issues. This is insulting to all that Mr. Truman represented and is a sick, feeble attempt on Bush's part to put himself on a pedestal. No one else ever will.

Bush, who only served to dodge responsibilities, cannot in any way compare himself to a battle-hardened trench officer of World War I.

To in any way suggest that Bush's unprovoked, unlawful attack on the sovereign nation of Iraq is even close to Mr. Truman's response to the invasion of one of our allies, South Korea, by a foreign government (North Korea) is idiocy, not similarity.

Bush is light years behind Truman, and every time he opens his mouth, he widens the gap!
