FLASHPOINT for Jul 24, 2006
Monday, July 24, 2006 | 7:18 a.m.
This isn't the best news for Jill Derby and Tessa Hafen. According to Washington Post political blogger Chris Cillizza, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has chosen its target cities to buy TV time to help its most promising contenders. It's a $20 million buy, covering 14 congressional districts, Cillizza wrote last week. And guess which congressional districts are not on that list, despite all the hype about how high these races are on the DCCC radar? Yes, Rep. Jon Porter and the GOP nominee in Jim Gibbons' seat may not face an assault from the DCCC, as Cillizza says this list is "a major clue" to the group's priorities. He says Hafen and Derby don't crack the top 20. At least not yet.
