Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006 | 3:27 a.m.
A list of the women who have won the Miss America crown, dating to the first pageant in 1921.
From 1921 through 1949, the date is the year in which the winner was chosen. In 1950, the winner was crowned Miss America 1951 and that practice continued until 2005, when the pageant was postponed to January 2006. The pageant was not held from 1928 to 1932.
Two women served as Miss America 1984. Vanessa Williams was crowned in 1983 but resigned 10 months later after nude photographs of her were published in Penthouse magazine. She was succeeded by Miss New Jersey Suzette Charles, who had been first runner-up.
