Letter: Port decision a shameless move by Bush
Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 | 7:23 a.m.
As if the pre-emptive war on Iraq that President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney concocted, supposedly to remove Saddam (read to gain control of Iraq's oil and rescue Halliburton from bankruptcy), wasn't reprehensible enough, Bush has given his approval to the United Arab Emirates company, Dubai Ports World, to have control of six of our ports: New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Miami and New Orleans.
And where is our Congress? One would reasonably think that an issue so crucial would require its deliberation (but no, this president envisions himself as king of a monarchy!). Representatives who do approve his action are as culpable and undeserving of citizens' support.
I find this latest Bush maneuver shameless; an act of betrayal to our country. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney should be removed from office.
