Letter: Gehry design may be wrong statement
Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006 | 12:30 p.m.
I'll be the first to admit that I do not know anything about architecture or design. But what went through my mind when I first saw the pictures in the paper of the models of the Lou Ruvo Alzheimer's Institute was: "Is architect Frank Gehry making a statement about the deterioration of the brain?"
My second thought was: "This steel looks like what we saw at Ground Zero."
We should be careful that the fantasy we are trying to build and maintain in our great city is not easily misunderstood. The steel does not work for me.
