Flashpoint for Feb. 9, 2006

With all of the talk of governor and U.S. Senate, there hasn't been much chatter yet about down-ticket races. Here's a preview of one that could be nasty: An open Family Court seat could feature an incumbent booted in 2004, his former law clerk and a veteran attorney who has run before. Ex-Judge Bob Lueck, who had a Web site dedicated to his ouster and who was crushed in his re-election bid, is telling people he's running. So is his former law clerk, John Jensen, who might be confused with Justice of the Peace Bill Jansen, which couldn't hurt in a low-profile race. And Gayle Nathan, who sought a seat last cycle, is planning to run again. These races are forgotten - and they shouldn't be.
