Letter: Bush’s Folly hurts us
Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 | 7:07 a.m.
President Bush, in his infinite wisdom on the failed war in Iraq, is still trumpeting the words fed to him by Karl Rove. They denounce anyone who sees the invasion of Iraq as a major blunder in judgment and that anyone who advocates that the United States should exit soon in a orderly fashion is a "cut and runner."
On the other hand, he says, as long as he is president, we will stay until the "mission" is complete. He fails to adequately define the "mission" so that any intelligent person can understand it nor does he present his own plan to complete that mission other than to say we will stay the course.
One can only conclude that his plan is to stay the course and let his poor successor figure out how to get our troops out of Iraq and clean up the mess left by his inept administration. That not only means healing the wounds with the Islamic world and resurrecting our nation's image with our alienated friend and neighbors. Moneys also will have to be spent to rebuild our devastated military and somehow pay for debt rung up on Bush's Folly.
