ARTS NOTES

Just when you thought artist Todd Goldman has hurled all of the insults he could muster your way, you realize that he's not done. There is plenty more whirling inside the brain of this sassy, self-proclaimed lifelong doodler from Florida.

The man behind "Boys Are Stupid Throw Rocks At Them" recently launched a line of greeting cards through his company David & Goliath that includes a fierce-looking freckly redhead in blue overalls taking a bully's stance. The card front reads, "You're Pretty," and concludes with, "Pretty Ugly," on the inside.

Everyone is fair game to Goldman, who will be at Entertainment Galleries in the Canal Shoppes at the Venetian from 8 to 10 p.m. Wednesday to meet his fans and unveil a new line of limited edition lithographs: "After Dinner Drink," "It's OK to Lie, I'm a Lawyer" and "Frank Lloyd Wrong," which depicts an upside-down house.

As sexy as it sounds, "After Dinner Drink" doesn't include a cognac by the fireplace. Rather, it portrays a cartoon dog alongside a toilet with a splash of water still on his muzzle.

The exhibit continues through Sept. 25. More information can be found at www.s2art.com or by calling 866-6813.

Acrylic and metal design

Los Angeles furniture designer Charles Hollis Jones will be at BlankSpace design at Mandalay Place at 6 p.m. today to discuss modern interiors. Once referred to as the "pioneer of acrylic design," Hollis Jones is known for his "sculptural fusion" of acrylic and metal: two key ingredients in his chairs, coffee tables, lamps and stools.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 632-9399.

New Shepard play dates

Because of the unexpected death of actor Bob Blomgren, the opening of the Community College of Southern Nevada's production of Sam Shepard's "The God of Hell" has been postponed until Sept. 1. The local actor was found dead in his home earlier this month. Director Joseph Hammond will assume Blomgren's role of Haynes in this political dark comedy - a take on the Bush administration.

Performances will be Sept. 1-3 and Sept. 8-10 at the Cheyenne Campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave. For more information, call 651-5483.

Painting slashed again

Artist Michael Kruis' satirical painting "Bert & Bin Laden" has officially turned Dada. The painting, on display at the Art Bar on Commerce Street, has once again been vandalized. This time bin Laden's eyes were cut out, and the painting was scribbled on. Last moth, the al-Qaida leader's face was slashed. Kruis took the news a little better this time, accepting that the evolving piece is now a public art project.
