Letter: Oil executives use leak to gouge consumers
Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 | 7:29 a.m.
When I read that the BP oil executives acknowledged there was clearly a gap in their maintenance program for the Alaskan pipeline, I almost puked.
The oil companies only know two things: shortages and price increases. These, of course, lead to higher profits.
They know exactly what would happen if they did little or no maintenance on the Prudhoe Bay oil field. It would leak, and BP would have to shut it down.
When are the American people going to say enough and force the politicians to stop this price gouging. This would be a good answer for the consumer energy crisis.
