Letter: American brethren should come first
Saturday, April 29, 2006 | 7:27 a.m.
I am writing this only to say that Stan Erasmus, in his April 22 letter, speaks for all of us when he stated that illegals are treated better than our war veterans. The only problem is that he did not speak strongly enough. It should be shouted from the housetops. But no, the idiots up in Washington just close their eyes to our own citizens' and veterans' treatment.
Our borders must be secured and our immigration laws already on the books should be strictly enforced and with no exceptions. We are fed up being told that we should treat these criminals with kid gloves. Our government should catch, ( difficult and almost impossible to do) and deport any illegal immigrants who can be found in our country.
I have no problem whatsoever with those who have taken the time and effort to abide by our laws and wait their turn and come into our country legally. Furthermore, any well-meaning but deluded people and organizations and religious organizations should be charged with felonies when they collude to assist the illegal immigrants who have been and are sneaking across our borders literally daily. The book should be thrown at them.
I definitely grant that the majority of the illegal immigrants are wonderful people, and only trying to improve their lot in life, and I don't blame them for that. That is all well and good, but our citizens should not be forced to pick up the tab for it.
