Aspiring models to put on a show for AIDS benefit

All it took were a few aspiring models and a little philanthropy to create tonight's "punk meets pretty" fashion show at Celebrity, 201 N. Third St.

Held to benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada, "Rock 'n' Roll Fashion Fling" features local models decked in spring styles by Los Angeles-based American Apparel and Fornarina shoes, strutting to the sounds of local band The Opera.

The show is being produced by Globe Salon and Choozi Entertainment. Several of the staff members at Globe Salon are aspiring models and began working on the event four weeks ago.

"One thing led to another," said James P. Reza, general manager of Globe Salon. "It started small and just sort of bloomed into a big event."

The show has a heavy rock 'n' roll theme. Choozi Entertainment, which offers a variety of services including choreography, stage design and production management, donated its services. Celebrity, a downtown entertainment venue at Third Street and Ogden Avenue, donated the space.

Food and cocktails will be served. Admission is a $25 donation at the door. All proceeds will go to AFAN. For more information, call 384-2582.
